Angora Rabbit Products & Care
Below are a few pictures of some types of brushes that would be good to use to groom your angora rabbit. The first brush pictured has a easy release button where you can make sure all of the loose wool is taken off of your brush. The second brush pictured is a regular dog slicker brush. The third brush pictured is a DoggyMan brush, which is what most angora rabbit breeders use to groom. You can purchase these brushes on Ebay, Amazon, or you can find the first two pictured in most retail stores.
Below is a picture of the type of Blower we use. A lot of angora breeders use this blower also but there are other blowers out there that you can purchase. I would recommend NOT purchasing a shop vac if your showing your angoras because as your bunnies coat grows the air force from the shop vac will not be strong enough to properly blow out their coat. The blower below is a Metro Air Force Commander blower. Make sure your get a 4 HP blower. This model is a AFTD 3. You can also buy the attachments for your blower. You can find this blower on sites like ebay and amazon. You can also find it on other grooming product sites. Make sure to compare prices to get whats best suitable for you.
Below is a picture of one of the types of Deshedding rake (Combs) that you can purchase to help comb out the loose baby wool on your young angora rabbits. You can get them at most retail stores and also online.
FEED & NUTRITION
Angoras need to have Timothy Grass Hay 24/7. It is part of their main diet. It will also keep them busy and help to keep their teeth trimmed down. We purchase our Timothy hay from Tractor Supply. It comes in a big compressed square bale. These bales last for a while with our rabbits. They are always fresh and clean.
Rabbits also need fresh rabbit pellets that have a protein of 18%. We feed Purina Rabbit Show. It is always fresh and smells great. Check with your local feed mill or Co Op store and find whats best for you. Remember some feeds are not as fresh as other depending on where and when their available. If you open up your feed bag and notice your pellets don't look as good as they normally do then take it back for a refund or exchange. Rabbits can get bloat easily from their feed being changed or particles being accidentally put in their feed bag. Remember to slowly switch your rabbits feed to your new feed when you purchase your rabbit. It is always a good idea to ask the seller for some of their rabbit pellets to transition your rabbit over to their new food.
